In my last post I talked about wanting to build a game that could explain how venture capital worked. Why? Because almost every founder I talk to feels there’s some huge mystery to how the industry works. You could read a book or a blog post but I think a game is a better way to help founders instinctively understand how and why VCs behave the way they do. Plus it’s more fun.
As part of a family of board gaming nuts (and founder or participant in several startups), I think its a fantastic opportunity to educate others about the dynamics of the startup world. Regarding the "illusion of control", I wonder if introducing "influence" multiplier cards that could modify the resulting exit might be a way to introduce control, while still maintaining randomness, perhaps? Looking forward to learning more!
The game seems so fun. I bet you tons of people would want to play this / buy it during Startupfest. I'd love to try it!
